Starter strip wire?
« on: August 12, 2007, 03:29:43 pm »
Does  any one use wire in the frames when they use starter strip? Would the bees build it in? Are the combs strong enough without it.

Thank you,

Dave

I used wired foundation for mine, because that's what I had. It's more time consuming cutting the strips, but it does hold them in well.

I don't, but I know people who do.

> Would the bees build it in?

Yes.  The more level the hive the more likely it will land in the center of the comb.

> Are the combs strong enough without it.

Yes.  If you're gentle with them.
