how long does it take
« on: October 14, 2011, 09:48:58 am »
Hey, love watching all these cutout videos, thanks to all.

One question though, how long does it take the bees to securely fasten in the comb to the frame and when do you remove the rubber bands?  Any special method to remove the bands and not injure anything?

Have a beeutiful day

No need to worry about the rubber bands.  The bees take care of them.  My removals usually have the comb fastened within a week or so.  It may be sooner, but I don't check on them for at least a week.... :-D

Believe it or not the bees often will secure comb sections to the frames within a couple of days. Sometimes even overnight! The more space you have between the combs and the frames naturally the longer it takes them to close that gap. Usually after a week or two you could remove the rubber bands but the rubber bands really don't hurt anything. Often the bees will chew through them and push them out of the entrance within a few weeks.
