Help Hive top feeder question.
« on: May 02, 2013, 02:18:34 pm »
Hi I have a hive top feeder. The wooden kind. They are used and dirty. I cleaned them up. I soaked them on bleach water. But they are still dirty. I cant tell if it is mold. The varnish has split and it is down inside the cracks. I have bees coming Sunday. Can I revarnish these to keep the mold or dirt away from the syrup I am feeding the bees? I have removed the screens and am replacing them with new. What suggestions do you all have. I am new and these are my first bees. BU

The bleach was sufficient.  Just make sure they don't leak and use them.

When you use bleach, make sure you let it sit out for at least 24 hours before using it.
