The hives smell quite strongly of butterscotch lately. Is it the goldenrod?
-
Smell is quite subjective. I think goldenrod smells like old gym socks.
-
It always smells that way here in late summer and early fall for some reason. I always assumed it was a combination of generally drier weather and the nectar sources, usually wild aster, goldenrod, etc

I always thought that smell was the brood i can smell it in the evening- dont have any aster or golden rod honey though rather pleasent aroma like everything is ok -is my read on it -RDY-B
