Title: New Swarm
Post by: CountryBee on August 26, 2010, 06:53:41 pm
Dad just caught a swarm a few days ago and they are clustered on the inside of the outer cover.  How do we feed and get them to except the hive?  Any suggestions friends? Country :)

you have comb in the hive?  foundation?  inner cover?

it's late and they may not make it, but if they have drawn comb and if you feed the heck out of them with 2:1 syrup, they mighthave a chance.  i'd use a jar feeder on the inner cover.  it's convenient and allows you to monitor their intake easily.  if it's going to rain, put an extra box and lid over so that the rain does not leak in around the jar.
