You will learn a lot here ,but please post your location in your profile so beekeepers in your area can respond to your posts. Lots of answers depend on where you live.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Are you beekeeping right now??

Bhoeschcod, welcome to our forum, great you found us.  I am in Canada too, in British Columbia.  So nice when young people get involved with nature, as you are doing.  Stick around.  You can lean on us for learning, we love to help people to learn.  Have a great and most wonderful day, good health.  Cindi

Hi and welcome, and it sounds like you are in good company here!!! :-D

So far this year my boys and I have had 1 bass, 1 bullhead, several sticklebacks, salamaders, a bunch of frogs, a snake, 4 starlings and 2 baby robins around the house.   :)  Not to mention the bug collections and bee hives out back.  And it is only May.

(The bullhead ate the bass, and then got autopsied.  The sticklebacks got et by a different catfish, the snake got let go in the yard, the salamanders got evicted to house the baby starlings, we let the frogs go, and the baby robins didn't make it through last night...doesn't always turn out so well)

Welcome to the forum, it doesn't matter what kind of bees you keep!
Its so great to hear when kids are interested in nature and not just the computer, video games, tv etc.
My oldest kids are adults now but my 3 youngest are still into collecting bugs and creepy crawlies.
My 6 year old son has his own bees/hive this year.
So glad to have you here.
If you have any questions just ask away!
Here is an idea, have your mom come on the forum and ask questions, maybe it will ease her fears and she will let you get bees ;) :-D

You know if you keep up with the posts here you could get so much knowledge that you could convince your mom to allow you to keep a science project.... out in the back 40.......
To bee or not to bee that is the question I wake up to answer that every morning...
