Hello first swarm from denver

I am a new beekeeper in the Denver area.  I have been studying about beekeeping for about 2 years but have lived in the hills and we have a bear in the yard EVERY week so I decided to wait till we moved back into the city.  My first colony is a feral swarm I captured!! I think I will bee doing this hobby for a very long time now.  I catch myself sitting by the hive losing time by the hours just studying the little girls.  I am a father to 2 little girl beekeepers age 9 and 7.  My wife is very supportive of my hobby and gets very involved.  That's about it for my beekeeping life... I am free to answer individual questions at anytime.

Hello Highlandsfreedom,

  I'm in Loveland CO, just north of you. I'm guessing that you are in Highlands Ranch area.. I've been doing Beekeeping for three years now and it is an addictive hobby. Catching swarms is even more so I think. How wonderful that your daughters and wife are involved! I too find myself being mesmerized by the comings and goings of the girls, better than a mountain stream!

Highlandsfreedom.  Welcome to our forum, great that you have found us.  Living in the hills - living in the city, that is a pretty deep change, you anticipate to move at any point in the near future?  Beautiful that your Children and Wife are also interested.  So nice that you caught that feral colony eh?  Stick around, we love new members and this will be a place where you can tell your stories, tales, experiences and also make some new friends.  Have that wonderful and most awesome day and life and health.  Cindi

No actually I live in Wheatridge I just love Scotland.  Yeah the swarm was a blessing I was in the market for a nuc still kinda am,  and the deal fell through.  I was going to get them from a guy in Kansas.  So yeah free bees are always the best.
