The link above discusses the many types of honey bees.

Map of the types of world honey bees.  There are 44 types of Apis mellifera, I knew of about 6, shows how little I know.

I have been around bees a long time, since birth.  I am a hobbyist so my answers often reflect this fact.  I concentrate on genetics, raise my own queens by wet graft, nicot, with natural or II breeding.  I do not sell queens, I will give queens  for free but no shipping.

Pretty interesting map Van. It seems to be missing a lot of the colors on the map. Specifically Apis Scutellata. I do not see it in Africa.

Agreed, Jim.  Even if one clicks on the link, source of the map, the same issue: can?t see the African honey bee range??  Don?t know why.

And all of South America should be a cross between Scutellata and Ligustica instead it shows as Caucasia.
