Swarm removal in Sandy Utah
« on: May 06, 2013, 10:14:30 pm »
Did a quick swarm removal in Sandy Utah yesterday. I've been using my swarm pole more and more and I must say that I really like it. Saves packing a ladder and its much better keeping my feet on the ground.

Nice catch!
I've been looking for a pole for sometime now but can't find one and don't wanna pay the $50 for the new one.  Made the bucket for it a couple years ago.

I didn't want to pay the money either for a while. I thought I could just buy it, try it out, and if it didn't work I would take it back. Turned out I liked it a bit to much and kept it. It has paid for it's reach over and over again. Since making it last year I have hived over a dozen swarms with it. Many of those were almost impossible to get even with a tall ladder and most likely very unsafe at that. It is now one of my regular tools I take when I get a swarm call which is almost everyday right now.

Thanks for the video, cklspencer, hadn't thought of the pole.  Strange I have one I made to get pairs out of top of pair tree, it has a 2 liter bottle.  I will have to make one of those.

Nice video! I have an extra old water jug but what did you make your pole with?

The pole is a longarm pole from Home Depot, you can find them by the paint section. The pole I use is a 8'-23' pole. Its worth the money. Some of the other pole can't tack the force like the longarm can.

Any swarm higher than I can reach with my hands while standing on the ground is too high for me.
