mega bee supplement
« on: September 21, 2013, 10:25:00 am »
anyone use mega bee? i bought some at the has meet last year & have not as of yet used it. most of the bee gurus seem to feel that pollen substitutes are a waste. i've heard it said ( i think & i emphasise think ) jim tew says pollen subsitutes will help if you ferment them 1st. i was thinking of adding the mega bee to my sugar syrup this fall.

I make pattys with it for spring with sugar water and put it on hive that are lacking and they seem to do ok. You can dry feed it. Look online there are all kinds of ways to do that. I don't like to feed but sometimes it's nessasary

we've had a dearth due to drought conditions for the past 2 months so i'll be feeding this fall. i'll try adding some megabee to the syrup.

You can do that also you can get some PVC tubing and cut it to a length you think appropriate put a end cap on one end and there is a end they make for attaching to a rain gutter or drain its rectangular in shape. Put this on the other end screw a couple of eye bolts to it and hang them . Fill these with the dry megabee and during a dearth they will not be lacking. They are cheap and very easy to make. Mine are about ten inches in length and the bees use them if there's nothing else but don't when there's pollen to be had

Feed MegaBee, you won't regret it.

It's the best pollen supplement you can get, the bees will tell you.

We don't like to feed all those solids in the fall. No potty break for months.
I'd save it for patties in the spring.
