Honey Bees At The White House
« on: April 19, 2009, 11:12:49 pm »
I was surprised this weekend, when I visited Washington DC to see a hive of bees on the front lawn of the White House. I'm not a real fan of Obama or politics in general for that matter but this administration got this one right. I am very happy to see this happen. How'd you like to bee the first beekeeper at the white house?

I took some photos for everyone to see:

Here is an article written in US News and World Report about the bees and the beekeeper.

it's cool that they put them where they could be seen.  my brother was in DC this weekend also.  he went to the other coast for the 20th anniversary reunion of the blow up in the USS Iowa.  can't believe it's been 20 years....
looks like you had good weather for it!
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

The first Beekeeper has a double roll, he is also the first Carpenter.
They showed on the news when he boxed a swarm in the White House yard. :)doak

Awesome!  Thanks for the photos.  I hope it keeps getting more press.  Neat little stand but I imagine you'd need a ladder after stacking on a few boxes.

Bees are not flys even if both are insects.  Bees always have access to no fly zones around my house.
