Insurance for the small honey producer
« on: July 14, 2011, 12:34:40 pm »
I have approximately 40 hives this year and I've started selling some honey in the local grocery stores. I'm thinking I should have some type of insurance, in case someone says they had a reaction when they ate some of my honey. I would also like to be covered if some stops at my house to purchase honey and they get stung, or anything unforseen. Just wondering what the rest of you folks think about this and what type of coverage is needed?

Thanks Leechmann

Check if it is covered by your homeowners policy, if not look into getting an umbrella policy to cover you.

If you are in an agricultural area you may look into agricultural insurance. It may  covers damages done by your livestock. You may have to make a few calls.
