Making Mead
« on: October 22, 2004, 01:48:46 pm »
My buddy, the home brewer and I are getting together tomorrow to make mead.  Mead is a Honey based wine.  I'm sure there are some mead makers out there that can help us.   My question:

I have a Cyser Recipe (Honey and Apples) that calls for

1 Nutmeg

Not one 1 Tbsb or 1 Oz ground nutmeg.   I've only seen nutmeg sold as ground nutmeg in the spice aisle.

Do you think this is a misprint or are we suppose to use 1 nutmeg?

Yes there is a whole nutmeg and I would think that unless otherwise stated they want you to drop one in the brew
Here is a pic. You can find this at some grocery stores, gormet shops and definitely online. I would call around and I'm sure you'll find it in your area.
