Things to do in Perth?
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:20:52 am »
Heading to Perth in early August on business.  Upon arrival I've got 1 & 1/2 days in my schedule to acclimate before the action starts.  I'm looking for things to do in Perth.  I'm a fan of military history, local history, bees, and nature (but not gardens).  I've found the Aviation Heritage Museum, Perth Zoo, Perth Mint, Western Australian Museum, and Leighton Battery Guns.

Are there some other things you'd recommend for me to visit and any local eateries to eat at that are unique to Perth?

Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

August is a good time to visit Perth.  The worst of the winter is over ( not that you would call it a winter).  WA Apiarist Society meets first Wednesday of the month  in South Perth.

Send me a private message.

 G'day D Coates,
Are you flying directly into Perth or laying over on the east coast ?

Crud, I didn't see the local posts thrown up later.  Nonetheless, I went to Perth (spent a lot of time at Kings park, beautiful!, and ate at Little Creatures brewery), Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville ending up in Auckland, NZ.  I bought a bunch of varietal Australian and NZ honeys that I am now enjoying.  The traveling was all business (non-beekeeping) but I had a great time with great people, food and beverages (XXXX Bitter served on wood at the Breakfast Creek Hotel, ... absolutely awesome stuff)  I was dumbfounded at what I saw Manuka going for going for in NZ.  $164 for just over 2 pounds.

Catching flack for my $12 per 2# seems absolutely laughable.
