Installing a nuc - how to do this
« on: February 26, 2009, 12:55:51 am »
I have the privilege of managing one of two Metro Atlanta Bee Association hives at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve.  We got our nucs, boiling over with bees on Saturday, and installed them today.  If you are a new beekeeper getting nucs, the posts on my blog about this project might be helpful to you - it's pictures at least and not just words!

http://beekeeperlinda.blogspot.com/2009/02/blue-heron-project.html   First step - setting the nuc up at the hive

http://beekeeperlinda.blogspot.com/2009/02/blue-heron-phase-two-installation-of.html  - installing the frames from the nuc into the hive

I'm documenting this project as we go, so there will be more on this particular hive, inspections, etc. as the spring moves on.

Hope it's helpful,

Linda T in Atlanta

Linda, as is usual, you have done a most excellent job of showing "how it is done", good work, girl!!!  Have a most awesome and great day, love life.  Cindi
