JP I just showed these photos to my husband and we so much enjoyed this first swarm on the picnic table. I guess you just pushed them into the carton from underneath and then placed the carton on the table and the remaining ones just paraded into the carton. Is that correct??

Anyway, I really enjoyed that swarm a lot.

Annette, I held the box under them with my left hand, grabbed the side of the table, lifted up, then slammed the table down and 90% dropped in the box. Closed the box, taped it up, and let them enter through the flap. If you get the queen in, most will follow. If she flies out, you do it all again, but then I cage her and place her in the box. If you can leave the box at the site, they will usually all be in the box by night fall, and then you can just close the flap with tape. Ain't that one a beauty? I just freaked over it, it was such a unique swarm, they looked suspended in air.

That was definately a neat swarm.  I found myself humming, "Oh when the bees go marching in... "

I showed my wife the pics and she started laughing and I said "what"? She said, they always march right in the box like that? She thought that was funny.

That was the part I liked the most. Parading into the carton like that.

If you really like to see them parade in, you show up with a hivebody that has some drawn comb in it. If the swarm is say less than 4' from the gound, you can place a sheet down, add the hive body on top, shake the bees, smoke the top and get them running in, after you have put the top on, you just watch 'em parade right on in. Especially works well late evening.

Hey Bro,

Loved the table swarm. Very unique. The one in the bush looked messy. I hate it when they get tangled up in every little limb and vine. Pain in the caboose.

Always carry my snips with me so I can get in there and make room, so I can get my box under 'em. Most people don't mind you cutting some. I always ask permission first though. If I can't cut much, I'll put a sheet down and do an aggressive shake down, sometimes it takes two hands to get 'er done.
