I have a local hardware store that sells it ("Do It Best" ?) chain.  They sell it by the foot which is really nice for just a few.

I went to Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply and about 5 different hardware and feed stores and none carried it, I ended up buying it from Betterbee.

if you have any local hardware stores around try calling them rather than going to the big boxes since they don't have it most of the time.

I found some at our local ag co-op.  Got it cheap.  Less than a dollar per foot for 36" wide piece.  I haven't figured why it is priced so different from different suppliers.  100' rolls run from $125 to over $300

Local mom and pop hardware store that called it fine mesh.  Measured to be 1/7" they looked at me weird until I told them what I needed it for then they just thought I was nuts using screen in beekeeping.
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

Quality!

The cheaper chinese stuff has much more variations in the wire spacing, not to mention their lack of environmental laws in manufacturing which makes it cheaper for them to make.  Not a big deal for #8,   but when you get into using pollen trap sizes,  it does matter.

I got mine from a craft store... I'll have to look at the packaging closer because it wasn't called #8 hardware cloth, it was called something else, but I was able to determine though counting out the 8 holes per inch that basically that's what it is.  It was not cheap though... $30 for a 5' roll.

Yeah, I found out quickly enough why the price wasn't marked on it... because if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Ain't that the truth.  I don't remember ever getting a bargain when having to ask what the price is.
