North-east Beekeepers take note
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:42:09 am »
IF you are one who had hives survive the winter then now you may want to check your hives.  I was just at the only one that is not in my home bee yard and it's absolutely loaded and exploding.  I added a super and probably should have a week earlier.  The pollen is coming in at an incredible pace as well as the bee expansion.  They had almost no open frames.  This was surprising to me as I didn't expect this as early as it is.

I guess the reason I was as surprised as I was is that my three hives that are here at the house have all been split so they are not nearly as robust as the one that was left alone.

The message here is that you may be NEEDING to add a super now.

I just got 2 new hives last week, both are bring in pollen at a very fast rate. The three empty frames I gave them were almost full the last time I looked so I'm giving them two empty frames today.  They might get a super as well. Things are starting to blossom fast.
