Sealed queen cells look empty
« on: June 19, 2009, 06:15:08 pm »
I am new to beekeeping and LOVE IT. I found a sealed queen cell today and carefully cut it out to take home an examine it. I looked through it with a light and see nothing. Does this mean it's an empty cell? Do bees seal empty queen cells? I examined it very carefully and there are absolutely no openings where anything hatched.

Thanks for a reply from anyone.

they dont seal empty queen cells, I have found when the queen larva isn't feed enough it will die and dry up and you will see this on the bottom of the cell.
THAT's ME TO THE LEFT JUST 5 MONTHS FROM NOW!!!!!!!!

Thanks a million for the reply. Yes I looked through with a bright light and just didn't see anything just thought it was a bit odd.

Thanks for the help :)
