Hello,

I (the family and I) am a newbie in Indiana.  I have done quite a bit of research, but obviously have tons to learn.  That is one of the primary reasons I joined this group.

We currently have ten hives.  These ten are made up of a combination of packages, nucs, and swarms.  My swarms seem to be the hardest working of the three groups.  One of my swarms, captured May 11, has 8 or 9 of the ten frames in the brood box drawn out already.  The queen was laying within 4 days of capture.  :)

Beekeeping is only a hobby/sideline, and will probably remain as such for several years.  I hope to learn, and be prepared to expand slowly over that period of time.  I am just happy to be here, for now.

Hello and Welcome!

This is a good forum to learn more about bees & beekeeping. Be sure to update your profile with your location so we know where you are when you post questions. Answers will often be different depending on location.

I use the 'search' function frequently. Very often I find answers to my questions in previous threads. It's a good feature if you want/need an immediate answer!

Are you involved with any local beekeeping clubs? I know several beekeepers in the Northeast Indiana Beekeepers Association. Clubs are great places to find mentors and get connected with nearby beekeepers. Also, there's a joint meeting of both Statewide clubs at the Purdue bee yards on June 20th:

This is a fun meeting: lots of beeks, lots of bees and lots to learn!

Thank you for the greetings.  I appreciate them.

Yes, I am a member of the NEIBA.  I have only been to a couple of meetings.  Good info at both.

You probably know more of the folks than I do.  Who do you know in the club?

Thanks for the info about the statewide meeting.  I think Frank Fuelling, from the club, mentioned that one to me.  I intend to go to it.  Is it pretty intense, or would it be a forum that kids could enjoy?  I have four, and my three older ones (6-12 yoa) might enjoy taking the trip.

Sorry about the "long pause".  I am sure I am no busier than the rest, but I just can't seem to find the time to get on here very often.  I work a couple of jobs, have four kids, and numberous projects.  But, I found time today LOL

Thanks, again.
