fall nucs
« on: August 30, 2005, 03:40:24 pm »
Hi:
I had planned to start a couple nucs this fall to replace any that I might loose through the winter but I guess I have waited to long for there isn't any Italian queens to be found at least I can't find any and I've made at least 15 calls.
Anyway my question is: I live in the upstate of S.C about 30 miles below Charlotte N.C. our climate isn't too harsh but we do have a good many cold days. Has any in this area raised there own queens this late and wintered them through to spring. I dont' mind feeding if they have a chance to make it!
I appreciate any comments and helpful hints that apply to this situation not only from this area but from anywhere with simular climate.
Thanks
Gerald

I don't have any Italians.  I'm in a colder climate.  But I do have queens from feral survivors.

$19 per queen.  $16 handling per shipment.

Good luck hope this helps

My guess is if you look at Beesource or anywhere else that lists queen breeders you can find lots of queens of any race you like.
