Lost one of my hives
« on: January 19, 2010, 07:56:38 pm »
I noticed one of my hives didn't have any bees buzzing around like my other one.  I took the top of and the bees were all in a cluster, and dead.  There was no honey or brood or anything in any of the frames? What gives?

my first thought would be starvation.  they are not head in, but that doesn't mean they didn't starve.  what's your weather been like and how big was that hive in the fall?  they might also have had mites, or lost the queen.  hard to say....
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

Daniel, sorry about this loss, it is always very troubling when one loses a colony/ies.  I think perhaps starvation too.  Keep the chin up, it will be OK, these are lessons we sometimes learn the hard way, delve into it, you will learn stuff from this experience.  Have that wonderful and greatest of day, with health.  Cindi
