This is not mine. I am not selling it-I just found it today while looking around on ebay.  I may throw in a bid or two myself.

I don't think it is 125 years old.

Pretty cool machine!

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I don't think it is 125 years old either.  There are a couple antique foundation mills at the beekeeping museum at Wooster.  This mill is a pretty modern design - you see brand new ones that look very similar.

Are all the new ones cast-iron?
Is this one?
How new do you guys think this one really is?
The pattern for the legs would have to be hand carved-not cheap today.

If the foundry patterns are still in good shape you could make one today just like the old one.

Too many times people use the old patterns and cast aluminum then paint it black.
Hard to tell from just pictures.

Still looks pretty neat.

How high you going Volunteer?
This could sure help this por'boys business plan if it worked and wasn't too awfully much.
The reserve is most likely way past me anyway.

Thanks for sharing the find.

Yeah, I was thinking I need to start carving on a pattern and go into production.

Haven't figured out how the drum is made.

Or rather how to do it low tech, low production numbers.

Etched? CNC mill? Lost wax casting? EDM?

Would cast brass hold up on the roller?

I'm pretty sure aluminum wouldn't.

Sellers market. Sold for $882.14

Of course, it seems many things on Ebay are selling for high amounts. It almost looks like most items are sold after buying them elsewhere and just marking everything up by twice the original amount. I thought I seen a 99 cent hive tool with shipping for like 9 dollars. What a joke on some of the listings.

BB are you saying a foundation roller for mediums is worth less than $500?
It didn't look like they were going to make anything on the shipping.

you could use any harden material. the two plates never touch. because the wax you put though it is smashed down into the pattern and squeezed back. the only question would be can the impression on the two rollers hold up with time.
