mold on some honey super frames
« on: March 28, 2012, 12:43:00 pm »
looked at my stored honey super frames yesterday and several of them have mold covering 4 or five square inches.  Looks like were the queen may have layed some in that area.  will the bees clean it when I put hte super on or should I scrape that part out?

They'll clean it.

We run somewhat humid and I have the same problem.  I freeze my supers and frames before storing them. When I put them on the hives the bees clean them up.  Works fine.

mold is only on two frames of darker wax in the lower middle.  I did the same thing I have done in the past and that is spinning the honey and taking them back for them to clean and then storing in big zip lock bags.
it must be something to do with were the queen laid eggs?
