Did not study enough about the bar size I guess and just wanted to know where to put the 1 1/4 bars verses the 1 1/2 inch bars. Appreciate all comments. Captured my first swarm and ready to place in main hive.

I would put the 1 1/4" by the entrance. Once they are clustered I would look and see where they are and put the 1 1/4" ones there, but odds are it will be by the entrance.

I don't. The bees do. I don't care where unless I'm supering (which I usually don't) in which case I prefer it at the back.

If I had to make a guess...
I'd say that keeping the brood near the entrance makes it easier to control the temperature of the brood.
