How about posting photos for those of us thst can't make it? You should all bring your cameras.
Jimmyo

I'll leave that up to someone who knows how to use one--when it comes to cameras the only I know is how to break them when somebody tries to take my picture.  I'm real hard on lenses.

Brian, about the picture taking.  I could ask my Husband to take that one, he has a great Nikon D50 or something like that and he has taken some pretty nice pictures of weddings and stuff.  I bet he could set up one humdinger of a group photo, that would be so cool eh?    Have the most wonderful and awesome day, groove on our life.  Cindi

Brian,
Rabbit would be freakin awesome!!!  My wife said yuck (cause she's never had it before).  lol  Not sure about the goat, never had it before either but always willing to try something new.  Food aside, I'm just really excited to finally meet everyone!

Cindi,
My oldest daughter Grace will turn 3 in July.  My youngest daughter hasn't been born yet (due at the end of June).

Sounds like a lot of fun.  Too bad we are on the other side of the country!  My wife and I spent 10 years in Olympia , Wa.  We loved it there, but our home state of Maine called us back in '99.

The San Juan islands are truly beautiful. I spent a week on a sailboat in and around the San Juans as part of a college course at The Evergreen State College in 1990.  As I remember, one of the boats was boarded by the Coast Guard, and escorted into Friday Harbor....turned out to be a misunderstanding, but made for an interesting day...our boat made it to our destination (Jones Isl.)  hours before the rest that day!  Never made it to Anacortes, but hear it is beautiful.

Washington State brings back memories!  I imagine the cherry trees are in full bloom, or almost past, and the tulips!

It won't happen this year, but we hope to get back to WA for a visit.

Enjoy!

Yep, the baby is getting big!  Amanda just got back from the doctor and everything is going perfectly.  The baby is due the end of next month and will be delivered c-section.  So by the time of the party we will be bringing a 3 month old and a 3 year old.  :-)  We're really excited!!!  Cant wait!!!

New addition to the menu: Marinated pigeon breasts with giblets.

Did I ever tell you that pigeons are like weeds and rabbits only worse?   Once you have them, you can't get rid of them, they multiply like crazy--2 new ones every 30 days from each pair and no matter how hard you try they keep coming back home.

Of course I could always do Squab a la King if we have a huge crowd.

Brian, I have been told by many old timers that here in new orleans yrs ago, the people would raise pigeons for the delicacy of squab. Pigeons and doves are in the same family or they not? I know in certain fancy restaurants squab is still on the menu. Can't say I have ever had it, does it taste much like dove?

Brian, OK, OK, now you've done it!!!  I've never tried pigeon before, actually never even thought about eating it before, I never realized even that people at pigeons!!!  Describe to me what they are like (oops, do I remember something about you not having a very good sense of taste?  If that is true, tell me what others think they taste like).  I am looking forward to trying it, not too sure about the giblets  though, hee, hee.  Beautiful and most greatest of these days, Cindi

Pigeons are just large doves, same family.  The largest pigeons were the now extinct Dodo Bird of the South Pacific.  Largest now is the Victoria Crown pigeon of New Gineau and the oxymoron breed called Giant Runt.  Squab (word for young pigeon just like poulet for chickens) has a slight bitter (wild) taste but not much different from oother fowl than Moose from cattle.  It's good, IMO but if you don't want to try any you can pass--I understand.

There is a small flock of band tailed pigeons here.  I had never seen them before here so had to look em up in my trusty bird book.  I was hoping the perve would join them but they are HUGE & I guess he is a sissy mama's boy....he was dancing & singing to the guinnea the other day..was sooo funny!  She just ate then chased him when he got in her way!   Jody

Brian, oh so cool.  So will you cook some pigeon and squab?  I am always game to try anything once, and even twice, hee, hee.  I would love to try some of each, but do what you do, no more, only what you can.  Oh this bbq is gonna be fun, fun, fun!!!  I could bring a couple of ducks to barbeque too!!!!

Brian when the time comes closer, lean on me to help you, I can help in many ways, you just need to say the word.  Delegate stuff, that will make the entire event so much less worrisome for you and your Wife.  Let us all help you and delegate, delegate, delegate.  That is one of my biggest things to overcome (and I still haven't yet) is to delegate.  I always want to do it all myself, but sometimes there just isn't enough of me.  Wish I could split myself into about 4 people now and then.  Anyways, beautiful and wonderful day, our sun is still shinin'.  Cindi

Hey Cindi, just a lil tidbit for you. Now what I know know about birds would fit in 1/2 of your small finger nail, but I know a few things. Squab is the young pigeon, this is the sought after delicacy people in New orleans ate yrs ago & is still on some menus. I don't believe anyone eats the adult.

Btw, a lilttle birdie told me that Brian will be putting you to work!!! :-D ;) ;) :-*

JP, you may know more than what you think you know.  You read Brian's, Angi's, Jody's, and my posts, right, you are learning, hee, hee.  Too bad that we all couldn't meet for Brian's day.  It is a long ways from many people and I know it just isn't in the cards.  We will take pictures, and our forum will probably need a special post for all these pictures, hee, hee.  I don't doubt for a minute Brian will have some work for me, hee, hee.  Wonderful and happy days, Cindi

A bucket full of elbow grease will be needed by both you and your hubby.  If you come down Friday night or Saturday am you can hook up your RV in my front yard and help get things ready for Sunday.  A short tour is included.

Hey, I was wondering if there will be any other musicians coming?  I'm a banjo picker and will bring my banjo if anyone else brings along a guitar/mandolin/bass/fiddle/something to do some hillbilly jammin!  Just a thought.  A get together like this one just wouldn't be right without some backwoods pickin.   :-D
