ultrabreeze jacket
« on: May 01, 2012, 08:38:12 pm »
It was time to get another bee jacket.  After much research, nail biting and reading recommendations I choose the Ultra breeze.  It was a bit more than I could really afford but I chose to go with quality.   It arrived today and looks really neat.  It is heavier than the usual cotton ones but I was expecting that.  It is hard to believe that this jacket will be as sting resistant as my old cotton one but I'll find out soon !

Thanks to Mr. Bush and others who commented on their jacket choices.

I just ordered two jackets today, one for me and one for my wife. I saw them at Bud 4, even though nobody there wore them. Larry

I got the complete suit last month. And I love it. As far as sting resistant, I haven't even had a poke, let alone a sting.

I think they could come up with a better veil though. The material reminds me of one that split easily along the fabric, that cost me several hits to the head a couple years ago.

How can it not be?  I've never been stung through the jacket.  But I have had them run up my leg while I was wearing it...

I have taken a few to the face while wearing my ultrabreeze. But that's because I usually do cut outs in darkened rooms and I tend to hold my flashlight in my teeth causing the veil to rest on my cheeks.
I cannot see a way for a bee to reach skin with a stinger unless you do something stupid like holding a flashlight in your teeth.

No worries... I have no plans to hold a flashlight in my teeth.. :-D  I am sure it will be as sting proof as my old one but when you see all those holes my first thought was.. " oh my goodness...LOL "

Has lots of holes, kinda heavy, but sure is a lot cooler. Have only been stung once thru the veil on chin, should not have been tring to kiss her.

I think any of the vented jackets are well worth the extra money.  Anyone should spend the extra money for one.

I have a full suit and a jacket from Ultrabreeze,  kinda hard to fork out the cash for them but beleive me its money well spent, especially when you really need them.  For the record after 4 years of doing cut outs I have yet to be stung through one except for my chin up against the veil while looking up on overhead cut outs.

I do get laughed at, but when it's very hot, I wear shorts and boots and the ultra-breeze suit or the Golden Bee Products suit and nothing else.  Very cool on a hot day.  It is worth looking silly...

Used my new bee jacket yesterday did hive inspection. Worked good struggled a little with zipper on veil, had no assistance, but otherwise worth the money.I noticed the script below your post,[the bees must not read the same books as i do ! ] Was thinking the same thing when i seen what the little critters were not doing in hive!?#* :-D
