making a honey sale pamphlet
« on: February 07, 2011, 10:46:55 am »
I want to put together a pamphlet with fun and amasing facts about bee's and honey.  something easy and quick to read that I can give away at stores and farmers markets.   I have many ideas but thought if we could come up with alot of ideas, members could pick and choose and make there own   Just fun facts like
Honey bees will tap about two million flowers and fly 50,000 miles to make one pound of honey.  Any have any ideas

Are you wanting others to put in quick takeaway facts for you to pick and choose from for your pamphlet?  If so, how about, "A hive full size hive has between 60,000 to 80,000 bees in it."?  A queen can live up to 4 years.  A worker bee may live only 6 weeks during nectar flow.  Bees survive on their honey during the winter.  Bees are hoarding insects and only the surplus honey is harvested for sale by the beekeeper.

yes this is the kind of things I had in mind.   I sell in 5 stores and a couple have several brands of honey   I want to rise above them.   This summer at the farmers markets I will have a portable observation hive that will draw interest and a fact sheet will come in handy.   Thanks D Coated

Don't forget these.  The ladies love these facts.

All nectar collected and honey made by a hive is done by female honey bees.

Female honey bees are the only ones that can sting.

Only the queen bee can sting more than once.

Male bees (drones) do not have stingers.

Lasts forever, stock up now for your great great great great grandchildren while the prices are good!

Lasts forever, or just about forever…. according to the Book “The Mummy” by Ernest Alfred copyright 1894, early explorers of the pyramids actually ate honey from a jar with a mummy inside.  Yummm Yumm.

Honey is one of the few foods that does not involve killing a plant or animal to get it.

" Honey is one of the few foods that does not involve killing a plant or animal to get it. "

I generally kill a few of them, while moving the hive boxs.
Most every beekeeper I know has this problem also !

Maybe in the US but many humans eat insects.

"Bees only sting children that are bad."   Well, it is worth a try.  :-D

Being food and producing food are two different things.   I stand by my statement.
