hi!  welcome.
we used to have another member from finland, but he's not been around for a long time.

enjoy.  we'll look forward to hearing beekeeping stories from your part of the world!
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

Aquila, welcome to our forum, so great that you have found us.  This will be a place where you can tell us your stories, tales and experiences, and make some new friends.  We did, as Kathy said, have a member in Finland, Finsky was his handle, he has not been active for some long time.  I am of Finnish descent, and have a Finnish Sister-in-Law.  We love new members, stick around.  Have a wonderful day, great health.  Cindi

Thanks everybody.
Hear are some general information about beekeeping in Finland that I know.
As I know we have 3000 beekeepers and totally 47 000 hives in Finland. This information I have got from beekeepers association. Finland is a country with population about 6-7 millions.
A real flow season is about 3 months.
Most popular hive system is 10 deep frames Langstroth.
Commercial beekeepers use normally only this standard. Hobby beekeepers use narrow frames also.
Polystyrene hives are a standard now but some senior beekeepers still use hives from wood.
An annual number of hives that professionals have are about 150-300. One beekeeper has 3000 but he is only one, as I know.

.
Let me provide my request also.

I will be in the USA some time in September-November just for two-tree weeks.

I would like to find an opportunity to get training work in professional beekeeping place. I would like to get new experience in ways of caring bees as well as making honey and comb honey especially. Also I am interesting in different equipment that may be popular in the USA but not in Europe.

I will be grateful for any help with this issue.
