Can I just tightly bag 2 supers over winter? Will honey be OK? I know most keepers would remove the honey but do not have allot, want to  start fresh in 2013 with new supers. Does anyone suggest keeping 1 on for winter and feed with  sugar candy??? Live near Altoona ,Pa.

You got 2 deep brood boxes?    How much honey is in the brood boxes?   I normally keep uncapped honey that I do not feed back to the bees in the freezer through winter and feed it back to them early spring.   This year I gave it back to the a couple weeks ago.  Open feeding with the supers.   Bagging supers first require freezing to kill out moths and beetles.   Let them warm up and dry off before bagging.   Then keep them where move can not bother.    And the honey probably needs to be mostly capped before bagging.   Uncapped honey may put off moisture in the bag for mold growth.   I do not keep honey supers on the hives during winter.
