I am sorry but open homosexuality is contrary to good discipline and order in a military in our culture yet.  The backbone of our military comes from areas of the country that are inherently conservative and unaccepting of this behavior.  Unfortunately, it would take real courage to reverse this action and we have a terminal shortage of that in our leadership and elected officials.  The fact that the iron clad tradition of separating Military appearance with any political activity was shattered by gays being actually encouraged to appear in gay pride activities in uniform.
