Hello Everyone,
  My wife and I have been keeping bees in Downtown Atlanta for a little over a year now and have experienced some amazing things along the way.  We have been seeking a few answers here and there and then Kathy, learned of Linda Tillman and through her blog I discovered Bee Master.  I hope to be able to glean some great info as well as maybe contribute in the near future. Thanks in Advance

lol, on your title. I have stalked my favorite Rose gardener Boxofrox, and he calls me KG (for Kansas Girl) in return, haha! I haven't yet practiced my stalking skills on unwary, innocent beekeepers yet, but your moniker reminds me that maybe I need to start practicing the art of stalking again haha!  :shock: Too many great beekeepers here for me to "harvest", till I start feeling the grounds at this forum, Just Kidding!

But Hi, and Welcome....

So cool that you are beekeeping in Downtown Atlanta. I know they do this in NYC, but am very happy they do this in Atlanta as well! How did you get started with this. Where are the hives located at? The feeding grounds? I'd love to know! Hurray on city bees!

Thanks for all the Welcomes.  We(I should say Kathy) helped a friend tend her 2 hives for about a year under the guise of apprenticeship.  Then another friend who my wife helps gave her a garden hive setup for her birthday a year ago.  About 2 weeks later one of beekeeper friends hives swarmed and we helped capture the swarm and brought it home and the rest is history.  The hive is in the back of our yard,  we have a tenth of an acre city lot.  With Atlanta being known as the city of trees at one point in time we seem to have plenty for them to forage from and have not seen them struggle with that.  They truly are fascinating and we are wondering if they are going to swarm this season, and we are ready with both swarm trap and bait hive already set up.

We did do an inspection and small harvest(2 frames) on Sunday and believe we found a virgin queen and we did not see any brood so we are hoping that they are moving forward with the requeening process on there own.  Any advise about this part would be helpful, as this is one of the reasons I ended up here.
