Work them? Windy but warm
« on: April 24, 2010, 02:49:31 pm »
I am needing to work my bees this weekend. Can I do it with the winds around 20 m.p.h. and gusts sometimes? Also it will be around 75 to 80 both days. If I can work them should it be a light inspection or can I break into them and do a thorough inspection?

I wouldn't sweat it.  The only thing I'd worry about is removed frames full of bees getting knocked over.  If you don't have a frame rest, I'd get one.  I just started using one I bought.  It's wonderful!  Before I had to either lean it up somewhere or hang on to it while messing with another one-handed.  If you don't have any brood frames exposed to the wind for too long, it shouldn't chill the brood.
