Blue Pollen in central Massachusetts
« on: April 16, 2006, 06:56:35 pm »
Hello Everyone--I was watching my bees today and noticed a few of them carrying pollen back to the hive that was a beautiful blue/green color. Thought I read that the pansy has blue pollen. Or maybe it's just a result of several different colors of pollen collected along the way. Does anyone know?

I was talking to the retired bee inspector here one day about blue pollen.  He said he asked a beekeeper once what he thought the blue pollen they were bringing in was.  The beekeeper took him to a blue peeling tractor where the bees were collecting the oxidized paint off the tractor.  :)
