A pretty Nice Swarm, March 26, 2009
« on: March 26, 2009, 11:34:09 pm »
I like these type swarms, how they cluster on a surface. To remove this one I put on the glove and grabbed handfuls and gently put them in the catch box. Handful #3 I would guess had the queen.

I enjoyed watching them walk down the exterior wall and fan.

It was pretty rainy all day today so I put them in my truck, about 30 got out and were flying around inside with me while I drove down the road.

Glad they are nice bees!

Nice JP...were they trying to get inside that building?

The inside wall was open studs but the lady next door said there was a hive a good while ago in this shed.

Perhaps they opened the wall back then and never closed it in after that.

Didn't have a whole lot of time to investigate this as it was about to rain and the shed had a whole bunch of stuff piled in it.

Swarms a lot of times will build a small amount of comb on branches and such but usually move on as you know after they have rested.

The exterior wall of the shed was no exception. Perhaps they were setting up for this

JP, cool, I know that feeling of picking up a bunch of balled bees, it feels kind of like a big ball of earwigs, smiling... 8-)  Have the most wonderful and awesome day, life, health.  Cindi

Cindi, a ball of earwigs?

I've never in my life seen a ball of earwigs. What is that like my dear?

A sting under the nail can cause the end of the finger to swell so much the nail pops off.  Even if getting stung on hands and fingers doesn't cause you to swell at all getting stung under the nail can often cause such swelling.  Just like getting stung near the eye, in the ear, nose, or on a lip; there are just parts of the body that are a little more sensitive than others.

Now Brian, I have this little sci fi movie going on in my head now, thanks to you.

It involves bee keepers all over the world having been stung under the nail, their fingers swelling, popping nails off, nails are flying everywhere!

Hey, watch out for those under the nail stinging honeybees, you'll lose your nails!

God forbid, Annette would have to give up bee keeping! :devilbanana:
