Last year we had a fabulous spring, long and warm and wet. Spring is supposed to be a real season like that. Many years we have a spring season that seems to last for one week, straight from winter to hot and dry.
This year it's been cold with a series of late snowstorms (as all of you in the north east already know). As a result my anticipation re my girls has been building day by day.
I checked this morning as the forecast was for a high of 4 degrees above freezing (that's about 37 F). With my South facing hive in a protected spot (and with a couple of hours of reflected sunlight this aft) I was optimistic that they might finally get some respite.
I checked them just before dark when I returned from work. The white snow from this morning now looks like this! :)
