I made up my first nuke yesterday late afternoon, showers today. I put 5 frames of day old eggs, nectar, brood, and some honey and shook lots of bees and nectar. To me this sounds like they'll have a wonderful time in their new home. One thing I am wondering about is that one frame was full of nectar, is this a good thing or should i have gave them capped honey instead? Also is it okay to look in a week to see if they have a queen cell or should I just feed them and check in a month?
What about space? I did add a lot of bees, maybe to much, I was worried since its only 5' from their old hive that half would go back. How early should I give them more room?

I check them after 9 to10 days. Should be day 12or 13 for the queen. She should emerge on day 16, 13 days from setup. I then check them 2 weeks after the first check, and weekly there after. Add new eggs if none found on the 4th check.

approximately 4 weeks should be plenty of time for a new queen to emerge, mate, and start laying eggs. I would suggest checking in a day or 2 to be sure there are queen cells going up. You should see several. If you see them, just let them do their thing.

I usually check for cells after 5 days. By then all of the eggs have hatched and any brood is now too old to make queens with. If they haven't drawn queen cells add another frame of eggs. Once they have cells close them up and don't bother them again for 3 to 4 weeks.
