online computerized observation hive
« on: January 24, 2012, 07:36:43 am »
Hello Folks,

HiveTool is a collection of readily available off-the-shelf hardware and software tools that provide continuous monitoring of a bee hive.  Up to the minute graphs of weight, internal hive temperature, ambient temperature, etc give the beekeeper a noninvasive view into the hive.

All the software is free and open source.  Sine Hivetool is based on an inexpensive (or obsolete) standard PC, a wide collection of sensors and interface cards are available - most simply plug in.

Unfortunately, due to my limited number of posts, I can not post the URL. Hopefully the moderator will append the url to the end of this post.
(or if you google "hivetool org" you will probably find it.)

Uses include hive management, education, and researching bees and climate and land use changes.

I'm sharing this observation hive technology with the hope that other beekeepers around the country and around the world would set up similar online hives.  Please contact me if you are interested ...
