Well i just ordered 2 x 3# Packages of Italians and am paying $85 Dollars a package. I am very happy with the supplier as the bee's i had off him did very well.
I was wondering what everyone else was paying this year ?

99.20$ for a 3lb Caucasian package from Long creek shipped.

Those prices seem fairly reasonable this year compared to what I paid last year.

I just paid for two packages (3 pound) at $75 each. Delivered to about 10 miles from the house.

I may be off here, but doesn't it seem unusual to ship a package from Ohio to NC when they come from the South or Cal. anyway? That seems like double the stress on the bees.

I don't know anyone down south with carni packages. So they may be coming from Cali. Long way for sure.
And for those who want a specific type queen line, I suggest getting a cheap package to start, keeping the shipping down, then using the saved money to purchase the queen type you want after they are established.

I paid $95 for a 3# package with a marked queen and will be picking them up in Navasota. I haven't talked to them to see how the hurricane we had come through here last year (Ike) affected them.

87.65 including shipping for #3 package of Italian with queen from Rossman,
113.50 incliding shipping for #3 package and Queen of all American Italian from R Weaver,

I was gonna try navasota again but after sarafinas post I thought it was kinda high, especially with having to pick them up.

Here is the email my supplier sent out.
The base price of a 3 pound package will be $90.00. The base price of a 4 pound package will be $105.00. If you want a marked queen it will cost an additional $2.50. Shipping cage deposits will continue at $5.00. When you add all of that together with state sales tax it comes to $102.65 for a three pound package with unmarked queen, $105.36 for a three pound package with a marked queen. If you don't specify we will assume you want unmarked queens. A four pound package with tax and shipping cage deposit will come to $118.93 with an unmarked queen and $121.64 with a marked queen.
We plan to have package bees available for pickup at our store on the afternoon of April 15, 2009 (a Wednesday) We won't know for sure about the pickup date until about a week beforehand. It all hinges on when the weather is warm enough for queens to get mated in Redding , CA.

I havn't heard packages yet, but a deep hive, 9 frame with new queen and brood, 115.00 pickup, packages seem to varie with supplier, last years supplier hasn't given me a price yet.

John i'm getting min from paris texas again. You have to pick them up but to be honest they seem to do very well where i;m at and out preformed the two nucs i got last year. so if there anything like what i got last year i should do well !

I am finishing up a beginning beekeeping course at Beez Neez and plan to get my packages from them since I am already building a relationship with them. But I'm curious as to you comment about Cedar Glen Bees. Is there a reason you won't use them? I am new, so have little to no experience with suppliers. That said, Cedar Glen does seem to have a wider selection of bees. Is there something I need to know about them should I want to try some of their bees in the future?

The feed back I got was mixed but this year there have been several postings from folks who placed orders through the website using a credit card, so far no orders have been processed and no messages have been returned, either email or phones. What made it an easy decision for me was the owner of cedar glen came on trying to back up his company, then he posted that I was just a disgruntled fired ex employee, when I have never worked for them or any bee supplier for that matter, and I was not the one posting negative about them, I just asked if anyone knew them.

As for Oldenglish, I think the operator mistook you for an ex-employee who is somewhat of a hotshot that attends either the Standwood Beekeepers or the Skagit County Beekeepers depending on who he has offended the least, last. He has a similar handle.
I'm not trying to defend Cedar Glen Bees just explain the situation as I believe it exists. I've used them because they have been the closest supplier with the strains of bees I've wanted to obtain, but this might be the last year I get bees through them, depends.

The Carolina Bee Company (http://www.carolinabees.com/) is located about 30 minutes north of Raleigh.

$77.00 for Three pound pkg and I got four 2 Italians and 2 Carnis.
$19.50 queens and got two. These come from Oliverize in California.
I will split most of my existing hives and let them make there own queens. The 2 queens I purchased will replace a couple of three year old queens and I will put the old queens in nucs to supply brood for a weak hive if there are any or to help with comb production I hate to get rid of them they have laid explosive brrood patterns every year so I figured I would keep using them and let the bees decide when to relace them.

Troutstalker2, see if Brushy or Miller in Wilkesboro has any bees that you can purchase. I have found both to be reasonably priced and great quality.

$95.00 for 3lb package from Sacramento Beekeeping Supply, I pick up. I have been very happy so far with the bees. They have worked out great and built up really good.

$80 for 3-lb. package, pickup from local commercial beekeeper who drives to Georgia (?) to get them and offers pickup the next day. I think it was $65 last year (help, Two Bees).

There store is a double garage attached to the house. When the packages arrive the "store" extends part way down the driveway. It is definitely a retired mom and pop operation.

Way to go for them. I love mom and pop operations. Too many of them are not around anymore. And I'm not talking about just bee stores.

I'm in a quarantine zone so I'm only allowed getting bees from Vancouver Island, BC, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia.
I'm buying 3 nucs, $110 each CDN$$ Each nuc has 4 frames with bees, brood in all stages and a laying queen.

I paid $312 for 4 packages of bees ($78 each) they will be shipped by U.P.S.I paid for them in Oct 2008,and they should be here this month..I bought mine from Rossman out of Ga,,,I wanted to get them from a close dealer so the shipping would be that stressful..

I paid $80.00 for some Russian nucs that I ordered through a club member.
$115.00 for custom order nucs( purvis goldline and NWC) that were started for me on foundationless frames in mediums.
Then I paid $125.00 for nucs that were on natural comb, already regressed survivor stock.
