Storage Building
« on: January 10, 2013, 10:31:14 am »
I'm going to build a double rail to keep up to 6 Langs (my current maximum goal) and want to place a storage building right behind it for stuff. I currently have a very long (10ft) pallet that is going to be the base. That way it could be loaded into my pickup and moved later if needed. It's up on blocks. I was going to roof the whole thing and close in half of it. It will be west of the rail and i was going to build a light arbor from it over the double rail for shade in summer. The open part was based on reading about light and air for pests while supers are off the hives.
I want to keep as much of my equipment in it as possible. Supers, spare parts, extractor, suit, smoker, even empty honey jars if possible.

I'd love some advice:
1) how close may I put it to the hives? (was planning for 6ft)
2) how much open space and how much closed?
3) any other thoughts?

I won't be swapping out all of my equipment but this definitely gives me inspiration!
