Honey Bee's in Space!
« on: February 15, 2005, 09:27:45 pm »
Greetings all,

I just heard from a teacher friend of mine that a few years back a small colony of honey bee's were brought into space on a shuttle mission. The idea was to study the effects of 0g's on the bee's. At the risk of being anthropomorphic, the bee's seemed to enjoy floating around...not having to use their wings...sadly I'm told that they all died after 3 days.

I would love to read more about what happen yet I can't seem to find anything in the most obvious places...If someone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it!

I could be wrong, but I thought the ag school at  Utah State had something to do with the bee experiment.  Seems like there was alot of talk about it, then nothing much was reported
