Cutout - Hayward, CA - June 29, 2010
« on: June 30, 2010, 07:17:10 pm »
My dad and I did a cutout yesterday in Hayward, CA, actually in Hayward Hills area. We arrived around 1 30PM and did not finish up until 8 30PM.
Dad got stung twice but that was after cleaning up and last minute check to make sure we didn't leave any gear behind, and one while setting up the new hive removing the screened cover with an inner and telescoping cover. I found the queen about 2/3 the way of cutting through one of the comb sections.
Here's a few pics but more details and pics on my blog: http://losaltoshoneybees.wordpress.com/

Is this the same hive you posted about in another thread? The one with the dead out, dark combs and bird nest?

Yes it is. Does that change your guess on one or two colonies or something else I asked?

Maybe. Without seeing the entire thing I'm not able to make a good guestimate but what I can see looks perhaps a little older than I first thought.
