My neighbor has a tendency to burn limbs and trash every month or so ,what effect will that have on my hives?

None' unless it is straight in the entrance of the hive.

If there are huge flames and the bees happen to fly through, it will singe their wings off. I doubt seriously that this will affect many bees though.

The problem comes in when the bees all start slacking off and you find them sitting around the fire drinking beer and roasting wax moth larvae on long sticks over the fire.  Back to work, girls!!
:)

I have a little campfire pit 15 -20 feet or so from the closest hive, and I don't know what goes on inside but on the outside I don't see any difference.

Last year we had a bolt of lightening hit a tree near the hives.  The tree caught on fire and was burning internally for two days before the fire department decided it would be best to have the tree cut down and the fire put out instead of allowing the fire to burn itself out.  You could smell the smoke for a good ways away.  At least 1/2 mile.  My bees were noticeably on edge due to what happened.  I suspect it was due to the smoke.  They probably thought it was a forest fire.  Anyway, they were fine after the fire was put out and that was with smoke in the area for a couple days.  Your bees should be fine.  I'm sure the smoke/fire you have around your hives are for a shorter duration.

My neighbor does the same thing.  His bonfire is about 80-100 feet from my hives and he burns it every week or so.  I think he is a frustrated pyromaniac.

However, it doesn't appear to really cause a problem with my bees.   :)

Ha ha! Isn't that just another way of saying that he's MALE???? :-D

Just had two nice days, two "campfires", two days with the boys crowded round the fire ring poking sticks in the fire and burning them....

Other than letting others put up with the horrible smell of burning plastic - if he is burning plastic -(we have one who burns plastic -ugh)  he probably isn't doing any harm.
