New in Florida
« on: January 23, 2009, 06:06:51 pm »
Hello all!

I've been lurking a bit trying to learn as much as I can before I get my first bees this April.  I'm starting out with 2 nucs and hope to build up to 50 or so hives eventually!  I've always loved bugs and been fascinated by social insects, and having some to "play with" that can make me some honey sounds great :-D  I'm going to use all mediums since I'm just a wimpy girl and am going to try foundationless and as natural as possible management practices.  I practically got myself laughed out the door at the local Dadant's branch when I mentioned that one   Anyways, I'm here to stay if you'll have me and look forward to learning as much as I can from the wise beekeepers I've been reading posts from so far. :-D

Welcome to the forum. I run bees mainly around the lake city-high springs-newberry-gainesville-bronson area. Good luck on your venture and hope you do well in the all natural category, but I had to laugh when you talked about being laughed out the door of dadant.  :) If you need any local advice or help just let me know.

Welcome aboard.
