It appears my larvae are turning to mush. Is this normal?

Looks as if you mt have foulbrood. Try the string test...use a tooth pick and swirl it in one of the cells to mush up one of the bad larvae then pull the pick out slowly. If a string pulls out with it (like melted cheese) it's AFB. If not it's most likely EFB.

It could also be from chilled brood or over heated brood but the bees will normally clean those out right away.

Let us know how the test goes.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

How many frames is it on?  If it is just that one I would take it out and have a bee inspector look at it.  The bees can clean up small areas of a few cells, but it looks like something is pretty established on that frame.   For double sure pull any frames if the goo sticks to a toothpick you have put in and spun.  Like the man said, if it ropes out ,Then you may need a trip to the burn barrel.
