Title: Water.....Water.....
Post by: Hi-Tech on July 19, 2006, 05:16:46 pm
Water.... Water..... I need water! Garden has burned up. Two 20 foot tall dogwood trees have died. Oak trees are dying. My cows are still on hay and that is running out.

Droughts SUCK!

Can someone please order me some rain or come do a rain dance or something?

Here's a little water chant (orayer) that some tribes in the Pacific Northwest use to use on those rare occasions we went a month or two without water.

It's in Chinook Jargon so I will have to translate also.

Mika makook chuck, Hyas chuck, skookum chuck.  Kee chuck, na laaally chuck.  Saghalie (pronounced sock-a-lee) tyee mamook chuck potlatch, klooshe chuck, kee.   and Repeat.

It means: We need water, lots of water, strong water.  Now water, not water later.  God make water as a gift, good water, now.

It was often done while doing the Thunderbird Dance.  The Thunderbird brought the rains.  You can make up your own dance.
