Two packages coming!
« on: May 14, 2007, 09:41:14 pm »
I got a nice surprise today. I had ordered two packages over a month ago and thought they were not going to send them. To my surprise, I got an email saying they would be shipped between Tuesday and Friday. I plan to put them in 5 frame nuc boxes. They are 3 lb packages. I'm thinking about ordering one hive and keeping a nuc. I could move frames from the nuc to the new hive. This will help one hive get big faster. .... and the nuc can be a ready extra queen. I would love to hear your opinions on what you think would be better .... get one hive as above or should I just build two more full hives before winter?

you'll have to see how it goes for your area.  i put in 3lb packages on the 13th of april and they are now working on their 2nd deeps.  you probably want to have some extra boxes and stuff in case you need more space.
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

I'd put them all in hives, they'll outgrow those nucs in a less than a month this time of year. But, that's from my experience.

yeah, I think I am going to put them in hives.... If my hives get here before the bees. If not, I can always move them from the Nuc to the hive.
