it seems like the foundationless comb is thicker than comb on foundation is this true or just my imagination thanks mark

They will draw it out thicker for honey storage than for brood rearing, larger space between frames will also result in thicker/ wider comb. :) d2

Just your imagination, or as don2 says, you're comparing brood comb to honey comb. Brood comb is consistent in depth. Honey comb is not.
