Coffe cans as hive top feeders ?

Are  39 ounce coffee cans suitable as a hive top feeder ?

If you try it make sure it doesn't leak before you put it on the hive.  I'd be concerned about it being air tight enough not to leak.  A leaky feeder can drown many bees.

coffee cans will leak most of the time because is almost impossible to make them seal up with no air leak, if you want a good gallon can that want leak if you do it right, go to a paint store and get you some new empty gallon paint cans, they will have plenty because they use them to mix certain colors.

I use this feeding box. I have tried many self made.  These boxes have been about 20 years in my usage.  Volume in pictures are 8, 15 and 20 liter.

It is important that solution is warm during night.
