The ducklings and the poult
« on: May 07, 2008, 10:14:18 am »
Oh my sweet Neice, she is only 16, only 16......She is a mother, she loves to raise little babies from our chickenyards.  She has raised chicks and ducklings before, she is an old hat at this and loves to nurture these little darlings.  As soon as one of our turkeys hatched, she asked me if she could take one, so we got one for her.  I encourage her to do this, it is a wonderful thing.  She had already taken two of the Muscovy ducklings and had them growing and living, sharing her bedroom.  She will be a wonderful mother one day.

These little darlings are growing like wildfire and they love her.  They love to go out and mosey around her carpet in her room, picking away at little pieces of things on her carpet.  I think it is left over food that has stuck onto the fabric.  Ooops, guess she drops food in her room, that naughty girl, hee, hee.  I love that my Neice loves to do this, it makes my heart swell....she is very special, I am a very fortunate woman to have these young people in my life....

This is the first day that she took the poult into her hand......she began to be mother.  Enjoy and have that most beautiful and wonderful day as yours, Cindi

If one looks at something, they all have to do a complete examination of what the item is, in this case, probably that speck of food, hee, hee!!!!

Cindi, you are truly blessed to have a Niece like that.  My daughter is the same.  It is a joy to watch them grow huh?  Lucky for your niece that you & your sister are able to let her develop in this way, many don't get the chance.  I can't wait for the pics of her little flock following her around the yard!  Jody

Jody, yes I am a fortunate woman, I thank my lucky stars every day for the people in my life.

You won't believe this, and this is gonna make ya laugh!!!  Now my Niece has the two Muscovy ducklings, and the three turkey poults.  One that she took when they first started hatching and the two that I had brought into the house and put in the incubator with the other eggs we are incubating.  These hatched one day apart.  Last night she asked me if she could put the three poults in with the mothers, she didn't want to raise the turkeys in the house, hee, hee.  I think that she saw the difference between turkeys and ducks and didn't want the turkeys.  I thought that a good idea because I think they get big pretty quickly, compared to the ducks.  Anyways, yep we did, we put them in the hens nest house and I could hear the mothers talking to them, and they went into the clan happily.

Now my Niece only has the two ducklings, so cute.  There will be pictures of them following her around for sure, too young to go outside yet, because the weather has not been that nice.  Beautiful day in the wonderful world we share.  Cindi
